Alpenglow inspires future generations through its education and outreach programs. Every year during the Fall Festival, the Artistic Directors (Rieko Aizawa, piano and Jesse Mills, violin) bring their world-class colleagues with them for musical performances at Summit County High School, in an interactive workshop. They take pride in introducing the students to varied instrumentation and diverse repertoire from the Baroque to Contemporary. It is an event treasured by the students, staff, and Alpenglow musicians alike. In addition, Alpenglow has donated several new violins, violas and one cello to the Summit High School orchestra and band programs.
We annually award a scholarship to a promising local music student who has demonstrated outstanding musical talent and who intends to study music at college. In 2018, Alpenglow was pleased to award the High School Scholarship to Hannah Starnes. Alpenglow also awarded Katerina Lee, Charles Henry and Mischa Martin-Williams full-tuition scholarships for the Summit Youth Orchestra.
